Change your Wi-Fi name or password
This article covers how to change your Wi-Fi password and Wi-Fi name (the name that your devices can see) for the following modems:

Wi-Fi security
To make it harder for unwanted users to guess your password, we suggest that you use a combination of:
- Minimum 8 characters
- Minimum 1 lower and 1 uppercase letter
- Numbers
- Symbols
We recommend you change your Wi-Fi name and password regularly.
Steps
Select your modem:
Vodafone Ultra Hub and Ultra Hub Plus
- Open a web browser and go to 192.168.1.1
The Welcome screen appears - Complete the following fields:
- Username: vodafone
- Password: You can find this on the bottom of your modem

- Click Log In
The Overview screen appears - Click the Wi-Fi tab
The Setup screen appears
To change your Wi-Fi name, continue to step 5
To change your W-Fi password, go to step 6 - In the Wi-Fi Name (SSID) section, enter a name for your Wi-Fi
This is the name devices trying to connect to your Wi-Fi will see
Please note: Wi-Fi names for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are set up separately
To change your Wi-Fi password as well, continue to step 6
Otherwise, go to step 9 - In the Wi-Fi Password section, click Change Password
Please note: Passwords for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz are set up separately
The Password pop up appears - Complete the New Password and Re-enter Password fields
This will be your new Wi-Fi password
As you enter your new password, we will indicate its strength (how easy it is to guess). - Click Save
The pop up will disappear and you will see the Setup screen again - Click Apply
Vodafone HG659 modem
Please note: Wi-Fi is referred to as WLAN in your modem's settings.
- When you're connected to your Wi-Fi on your computer or tablet, open your web browser.
- In the address box, enter 192.168.1.1. Press Enter.
- On the screen like below, enter the default login user name (vodafone) and password (vodafone) - unless you changed these in which case use yours! Click Log in.
- Select Home Network from the navigation at the top of the screen.
- In the navigation on the left-hand side of your screen, choose WLAN Settings.
For the Vodafone Broadband Complete modem, please choose Wi-Fi parameters. - Click on the arrow next to WLAN Encryption to show the settings, enter your new SSID (Wi-Fi name) or WPA Pre-shared key (password), and click Saveat the bottom.
- Make sure you update all your devices (that connect to your Wi-Fi) with the new password to access your Wi-Fi.
Enable guest access
- On a computer or tablet connected to your Wi-Fi, enter 192.168.1.1 into your web browser
- Click the Home Network tab
- From the left-side menu, select Guest Network
- Expand the Guest Network Settings section and tick the Enable guest network checkbox
- Click Save

Please note: When you log into your modem's web management page for the first time, the setup wizard gives you the option to change the Wi-Fi name and password.
- Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1
- Enter your password
Note: The default password is listed on the modem sticker - From the top-menu, click Wi-Fi Settings
The Wi-Fi Basic Settings screen appears - Optional step: Click 5GHz preferred to have devices automatically switch between 5GHz and 2Ghz
This option combines the two Wi-Fi bands into one for simplicity.
Alternatively, you can separate them out into 2.4GHz and 5Ghz Bands. Separating them out means that the Wi-Fi names and passwords can be configured individually - In the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi sections, update your Wi-Fi name and Wi-Fi password
- Click Save

Please note: When you log into your modem's web management page for the first time, the setup wizard gives you the option to change the Wi-Fi name and password.
- Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1
The Home screen appears - From the top-right side of your screen, click Log in
- Complete the following fields
- User name
- Password

- Click Log in
- Click the Settings tab
The Configure WLAN Settings screen appears - From the left-side menu, expand the WLAN option and select WLAN Basic Settings
The WLAN Basic Settings screen appears - In the table, find the relevant SSID (name of your Wi-Fi) and click Edit
To change your Wi-Fi name, continue to step 8
To change your Wi-Fi password, go to step 9 - In the SSID field, enter a name for your Wi-Fi
This is the name devices trying to connect to your Wi-Fi will see.
Please note: Wi-Fi names for 2.4GHz and 5GHz are set up separately
To change your Wi-Fi password as well, continue to step 9
Otherwise go to step 10 - In the WLAN key section, enter a new password
Please note: Wi-Fi passwords for 2.4GHz and 5GHz are set up separately - Click Apply

Please note: Wi-Fi is referred to as WAN in your modem's settings.
- Log in to the web management page enter 192.168.0.1 in your browser and press Enter.
- Username can be left blank and password (admin by default).
- Click Login.
- In the navigation, choose Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) or Automatic Security Configuration
- Enter your desired Device Name (Wi-Fi name) and Key (password), and click Save. The screen should look like below.
- Make sure you update all your Wi-Fi connected devices with the new name and/or password for your Wi-Fi.
